Intradiscal Electrothermal Annuloplasty (IDET) is a minimally invasive procedure to help heal tiny cracks or tears in spinal discs. A heating wire is placed through a hollow needle into the affected disc and an electrical current is applied. The goal is for the heat to cauterize painful nerve fibers and help the collagen of the disc contract and heal where the tear in the disc is.
